How it started
Revolution of Forms is a London based online shop founded in 2019 by Raffaella, a former Design specialist at Christie’s, with the help of her partner, Stephen.
Raffaella is passionate about design and handmade objects. In her previous role, she applied her knowledge and expertise of design, architecture and visual art to curate ground breaking sales of objects and furniture in the London and New York salesrooms of the renowned auction house. After an inspirational visit to Mexico, meeting craftsmen and designers using traditional methods to create beautiful objects with a contemporary aesthetic, Raffaella decided to start a project where her passion and eye for design are combined with sustainability and ethical principles.
Revolution of Forms is born out of her love for crafted objects, her experience and knowledge of design, and the desire to give exposure and provide opportunities to artisans and contemporary designers worldwide looking to make an impact.
Stephen has a background in building technology and innovation solutions to solve problems in a number of industries. He is passionate about the power technology provides to help solve some of our more urgent social and environmental issues. The current trend towards mass consumerism cannot be sustained and we urgently need to work together towards consuming less and making more ethical and sustainable purchasing choices. Stephen aims to use his experience with implementing technology to support Revolution of Forms to improve the provenance of the objects it offers, to protect authorship of designers and makers, and also to allow its collectors to make genuinely transparent ethical purchasing choices.
